Internet of Things (IoT) : Promising connectivity

Namaste Everyone,

Amit here from Tech for layman.

Have you ever wonder why your solar panel installer have asked you for one sim card? Ever wonder how your car's multimedia system shows perfect maps everytime?

If yes, then the answe is INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) which is the most promising way of connectivity to almost everything possible from your solar roof top to your car, from door to your scooter.

IoT was first being discussed as early as 1982 and first it was used by Coca-Cola and they put internet connection in their vending machine at Carnegie Mellon University to keep a track on the inventory and to know whether new loaded drinks were cold or not (how astonishing!... Isn't it?)

But its real use has been done by world in 21st century when internet became necessity of humans or rightly we say when internet became accessible and affordable to almost everyone.

The main objective of IoT is to bridging the gap between human and things, it's because of IoT things started to communicating with the humans and humans started to realise the more value of technology just like how we value Google maps now, just like how we value security lock features in your e scooter which saves your scooter from theft.

Imagine you receive real time data from your car through various sensor and keep on updating you regarding periodic maintenance and current status, isn't it amazing?

Now imagine you just came to your bedroom to sleep and you forgot to switch off TV and loving room AC, and how will it be that you switch them off with your Cellphone, this is called real connectivity with things.

Below I am mentioning some of the most used and explored IoT example

1. Connected appliances
2. Smart home security system
3. Wireless inventory tracker
4. Fleet management system
5. Solar roof top tracking
6. GPS tracking
7. Wearable health tracker
8. Autonomous farm equipment and so on

IoT usage will go on a sky high from now as dependency on internet has been increased due to low cost data, people tend to have control of everything regarding their life in their hands and surely smartphone is going to be the centre of any life.

Stay connected

Pls comment for any suggestions and inputs..

Namaste.
